Westview And Jesuit Go To The Bell In Battle Of Oregon Powers

What a great game we saw over at Cronin Field last night as the #8 Wildcats and their high powered “Ricky Bobby” offense took on the #2 Jesuit Crusaders.  It was a seesaw battle that saw Jesuit come back from a 17 point deficit to take the game in the waning moments 49-44.

Westview is running a style of offense that while risky at times has big rewards.

Westview is running a style of offense that while risky at times has big rewards.

The Wildcats went for every onside kick and every 4th down and played their super fast style of offense the entire time to success.  The Cats were tested for the first time this season by a big time defense in Jesuit and they stood the test.  The game was theirs to win all the way down to the final moments where with 12 seconds left Senior QB Austin Brisbee had one last shot at a TD pass; a pass that would not fly free from his hand as he was sacked as time ran out.

On the night Brisbee threw for 415 yards and 2 TD’s but also threw 2 picks which were both shots at the goal line true to the style of play Westview is executing.  They went for every 4th down and got them all and onsides kicked every kick.

Jesuit was led on the ground by Junior Jason Talley who ran for 196 yards and a three TD’s was perhaps the difference going through the many lead shifts and big moments.  At almost 200 lbs and 6’0″ he is a real threat to score anytime he has the ball.

Eric Restic had a rough first half for the Crusaders but connected on several deep passes in the second half including 2 to rising star Junior Eric Happle who was everywhere on both sides of the ball.

Both teams we expect will make deep playoff runs and be a threat to win it all.  We captured some big moments on film and Video which are embedded below for your enjoyment.
