Washington’s Best Linebackers of 2013 Reviewed

Linebackers 2013

Here are the top performers from last year in the State of Washington who we have watched film of and seen play.  They have the size, the speed, and the proven track record to move on to the next level.  This is by no means a final list.  We will update this monthly and welcome your submissions if we overlooked anyone.  This is only partly about the stats…please keep that in mind as we view this through the eyes of our trained recruiting staff in terms of how these athletes project; the same method collegiate coaches use.  This is an amazing list of Linebackers;  maybe the best we have seen in several years!
Danny Mattingly, 6'5", 225 pounds, Mead High

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/842077/danny-mattingly

Mattingly is closing in on 10 offers and is looking to be one of the premier OLB in the Nation!  Such a gifted kid for sure!  Nothing more to say really.  Nebraska just offered him.

Myles Jack, Bellevue,  6'2", 215 Pounds

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/82381/myles-jack

Myles is growing again and is closer to 220.  His long arms and amazing burst fo speed and the fact that he gets in on a majority of defensive stops have him leading the region at 10 offers.  What he does from here is going to be a matter of size.  Already a Pac 12 and beyond guy at the RB or OLB- walk up DE spot Myles is a top recruit.

Payton Pelleur,  6'2", 225 Pounds, Skyline

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/590122/peyton-pelluer

Colorado offer in hand for this First team All State stud.  He is so solid and fundammentally sound. One of the top linebackers out West who we see going to any number of schools.

Sean Constantine, 6'2", 215 pounds, Bellevue

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/53041/sean-constantine

Natural born football player.  Has U of W offer and more coming in.  One of the best players in the region and a 4 star kid already.  He really makes the Wolverines click and is a smart player with a tough nosed work ethic.  Very top notch football player!

Kevin Shelton, 6'3", 230 pounds, Auburn

Film Not Done Yet

Younger Brother of 4 Star DT Danny Shelton.   The name says it all and this young gun looks like he can man up against anyone.  Kevin should be one to watch for now and going ahead into college.

Rod Jones, 6'3", 235 Pounds, Federal Way

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/929738/rod-jones

Boy this is one big time kid.  A great blocking back and a better full back.  Could he be one of the best overall linebacker in the State?  Yes he sure could.  We love this kids motor and hsi demeanor is tough!

Calvin Chandler, 6'2", 215 pounds, Belleramine Prep

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/248158/calvin-chandler

Calvin is a top notch athlete who can be a Wr, FB, OLB, or Safety,  Take your pick he is a kid with top level talent.  We love him.

Jordan Hoorn, 6'2", 225 Pounds, Marysville-Pilchuck

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/630077/jordan-hoorn

120 tackles and 5 TFL; 3 sacks in 2011.  A great looking athlete with a big motor to boot.  Boy another talented kid looking to get his shot.

Jack Schweitzer, 6'3", 218 Pounds, Gig Harbor

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/508463/jack-schweitzer

There is no one working harder then Jack to get to the next level.  His strength and measureables are all at the highest level.   Jack is laser focused on school and football and is one explosive kid that should find a home at the next level.

Jack Oman, 6', 210 pounds, O'Dea

www.hudl.com/athlete/482308/jack-oman

153 Tackles and First team all Metro.  He is a terrific baseball player but will have a home at the next level if he wants it.  Tough nosed Fighting Irish Kid who is a very good athlete.

Michael Tupou, 6'2", 230 Pounds, Inglemoor

No Film Yet

Big powerhouse kid with above average athleticism.  Great hitter at the point of attack.  Can play DE too.  Has been a proven entity and is on his way if he continues to work hard.

Darrin Laufausa, Juanita or ?? ,  6'2", 225 Pounds, arrin Laufasa,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLVhGcC9j0Y

Darrin is known for his smooth running style that combines speed and power. He is a great offensive Weapon but boy as a OLB he can be elite.  Tall, rangy, speedy, fluid, and has terrific instincts for the game.  Very Good High School Football player.

Caleb Newman, Lynden 6'4", 230 pounds

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/102364/caleb-newman

6'3" and 230 pounds Coach Curt Kramme speaks highly of this guy and says he can play a number of positions.  His size is best used at line or LB and we like him at either.  A great overall athlete and a guy coaches could look to for a number of positions.

Jabari Marshall, 6'2", 190 pounds, Skyview

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/541378/derek-chase

Marhshall was All League GSHL and was a leader for the team.  He looked really good this season and should be a leader again for Skyview as they make another run for the Dome!

Devin Benford, 6'4", 212 pounds, Skyline

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/604034/devin-benford

Skyline LB that impressed us each time we saw him and he has big time play making ability.  Long arms in a lean powerful frame with good speed and the ability to hit.  This guy looks like he could be something very special before its all over.  Two Thumbs up!

Albert Havili, 6'2", 235 pounds, Federal Way

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/929766/albert-havili

Albert joins Rod Joins as a LB core that you would not want to face.  He has all the intangibles and is a hard nosed kid.  Great film too shows off his full battery of skills.

Micah Breland, 6'2", 215 Pounds, Foster

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzh_4nFgn2M

Breland is a beast and only going to get better.  While he has work to do like they all do he is generating interest and is certainly in the discussion about top talent from around the State.  Good showing at the Army All American Combine.  This kid is fired up!

Ben Berkimer, 6'3", 215 pounds,  North KItsap

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/552509/ben-berkimer

Tough kid.  First Team All League.  3.7 GPA and a kid who would bring leadership, toughness, and over ability to any team.  Worth a look!

Matt Hassall, 6'2", 215 pounds,Mercer Island

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/604034/devin-benford

Emerging prospect who can get it done on boht sides of the ball.  One to watch as the 2013 season rolls out.

Andrew Shadle, 6'0", 200, Bremerton

Very good football player.  No film to review yet but deserving of mention as a result of his accomplishments last year.

Heads up, keep an eye out for, \”middle flor\” 2014. Jack is very different from Sam and very worth checking into. Started on special teams last year as a very young sophomore and is having a great track season in hurdles, discus and high jump. Also played fullback coming in at 5th in last years record setting rushing group. Currently 6\’2 195# and won\’t turn 16 until August!
