Thomas Tyner And Aloha Evolve And Win

Thomas Tyner was at it again and so were the Warriors. On a quiet night of only 2 quarters of play the future Oregon Duck had just 13 carries for 180 yards and 2 scores. But this season was never meant to be about him nor did he want it to be. And while it was amazing to watch him, as it always is, it was even more fun to watch the Warriors grow and evolve as a team.

They beat the Westview Wildcats last night 50-28 under a full moon and gorgeous setting.

The evolution is on for Aloha.  The biggest shout out we can give is to QB CJ Eytel.  The Senior field general is quickly becoming the leader of this team and he has earned that by being an exceptional student and athlete over these past 3 seasons.

On the field CJ has developed better reads and is throwing a much crisper ball.  Something you would have to see week to week to truly appreciate.  His ability to pull off the play action pass is on par with some of the best in the Region.

And his deep ball is a tighter spiral with better accuracy.  Behind his All State Line and with the addition up front of power house athlete Bryson Sullivan, who returned last night in awesome fashion, Eytel is finding a groove and making a case as a top QB in the Metro League.

Helping him find that groove this year is Junior rising star Maurice McSwain.  The 5'11"-165 pound speedster caught only 2 balls but had 76 yards in doing so and took one to the house for a TD.

He also had an amazing 80 yards Kick off return for the score that made the KATU Play of the night.

McSwain was a regular at the Air One Football Camps in the Offseason helped by All American QB John Charles.   We covered those camps and watched McSwain rise against the best of the best.  He is a true talent.

Eytel also showcased his legs as he scampered 13 yards for a TD late in the game and earlier powered it in from 2 yards behind a crushing block laid out by AJ McCollum and Brayden Kearsley.

Richard Belog caught a nice pass and broke it 82 yards in the game as well.  The back up Junior QB showed that he can be a threat as well and looked great on defense too.

This evolution of the Warriors squad is necessary if they are to move on deep into the post season.  Tyner is your go to guy and always will be.  But Eytel assessed the team and his role the best.

"When Thomas is on the field all eyes are on him.  He is making it possible for the rest of us to go to work as well and that is what we are doing," he offered.  "It is very rewarding to see unfold."

The Wildcats showed some serious fight and never gave up in this game scoring two times late but were simply outgunned.    Daniel Abdie and Julius Rucker hooked up for a TD and the Cats were able to sustain some drives but the Aloha defense which has improved a ton held firm when they needed to.

What more could you ask for in a team?  A rising QB, a Phenom at Running Back,  a speedy deep threat, a premier O-Line, great coaches and fans, and a defense going into lock down mode.    Not to much missing there.
