Star WR/RB/DB Tanner Shipley has flipped from BYU to Boise State for his commitment.
Yesterday it was Wilsonville High School star linebacker Johnny Ragin III making news as he switched his pledge from BYU to Cal. The 3 Star stud was a big loss for the Cougars and a gain for the Bears. But his team mate Tanner Shipley was still holding firm with BYU.
The operative word there being “Was”.
Tonight Shipley, the 6’2″ 190 Pound athlete, let us know by phone tonight that he is switching his pledge to Boise State. The Broncos had slow played him and offered him only recently. They made a really good case at a visit he just took and he could not say no.
Shipley has Boise State written all over him. A pure talent who is humble and hard working. Less concerned with Star Rankings and more concerned with Wins he is a Coaches player. He will give himself into BSU in a way they rely on for their success. A terrific team player he is going to be a good one for the boys of the Blue Turf!
Why Boise State and why the Flip?
“Boise State was the perfect fit for me! Coach Peterson is truly an amazing coach! He runs his program better than any in the nation! He focuses on recruiting great guys all around and turning them into men on and off the field,” offered Tanner. “The school called out for me and I’m super excited!”
What about BYU? Did he have a chance to reconcile with them?
“BYU has been great and I respect them so much but the fit at Boise state is perfect for me!”
Shipley and Ragin as a pair were both highly respected recruits. BYU will no doubt reload and when one door closes another opens as they say. This was a good example of that.
