It was another huge week in Oregon Prep Football.  As we get ready for what appears to be a wet and cold Friday Evening we want to look at some of the stories we covered and that are developing.  Here is our week in review:

  • Richard Ramsey of Milwaukie was moved to QB at Milwaukie-  Smart move here.  Coach Don Johnson put the football in the hands of his play makers and they came up huge!  It was last week that Johnson finally found out that Ramsey had some QB background.  That was all he needed to hear.  Ramsey, a 5'10"-185 freakish athlete, posted 145 yards through the air on 7 passes with 2 TD's and answered on the ground going to 140 yards and 4 TD's on 7 carries.  That was enough to get the 52-0 win over Parkrose.  Richard Ramsey was named the OregonPreps-Rivals.com Player of the Week.

  • Colton Eubanks- Powder Valley-  Running back on an 8 man team ran wild for 588 yards and 10 TD's.  Thomas Tyner inspired him.  Kid has some mad skills out there in Powder!

  • John Williams- Lincoln HS QB:  The kid is impressive.  He never seems to let up and the win last week over Sunset was notable.  A team that took Aloha and Jesuit to the Wall.    He had another 350 yard performance and is a fine a QB as you will find in HS.  A Special Kid on the rise there at Lincoln and now he leads the State at 2,238 yards.

  • Connor Griffin- Lake Oswego WR:  Wow.  4 Catches nailing 3 TD's and 173 yards.  Classic LO!

  • Ragin Grabs Colorado-  His 4th Major Offer.  He also picked up Nevada as well.  But this guy goes Pac 12 at least!  Watching him reminds me of Tyson Coleman.  Johnny is a little bigger but otherwise the same level of explosion and speed .  Coleman is playing well at the Ducks.  Could Ragin be next up for the Ducks Offer?  We shall see.

  • Tanner Shipley Grabs Offer #4–  Colorado liked Ragin so much they deicded to come for Shipley too.  ðŸ˜‰  Tanner is amazing.  If those two end up at the same place let's hope it is in State.  They are a dynamic duo and Shipley has been unstoppable this year!

  • It's Cristian Morris Time:  You know maybe Sherwood Coach Greg Morris said it best.  He was tired of hearing about Johnny Ragin and Tanner Shipley.  He wanted some more love for Cristian Morris.  The Bowmen stud RB/Safety/Slot sat down with us for an interview after nailing 137 yards and 3 TD"s plus two Drive ending picks last week to turn back Wilsonville.  Morris, the 6'0"-185 pound burner, has not had the touches of some of these other guys and he seems to stay under the radar.  But how can you deny 17 yards per carry?  You can't.  The kid is so very good that Lawrence is right.  And we think that the Sherwood kids from a Talent perspective sometimes get discounted because the Wing T Offense is not designed to feature big time talent.  At least not as Much.  Morris may be the premier back in the State next to Tyner and that is something we do not say lightly.  Read The Full Story on Cristian Morris Here!

  • Thomas Tyner-  No Comment.  My Hat is ready to go.  I made my case this week in the story "Is Thomas Tyner Running Away From Oregon".  Read it and learn.

  • ALOHA V JESUIT- Analysis  Here are some thoughts.  Both teams are putting this thing all on the line.  The tension and mood around both camps is almost Scary.    We expect a huge crowd and I think the environment out there early on will be tight and probably highly charged.  We are expecting a wet night with some mis-ques and fumbles etc.  But once that tension breaks these two top rated teams are all on.  The outcome will be a close one.

    • Stop Thomas Tyner.  Duh!  Not going to happen.  Tigard has in our view the best 11 on the defense he has faced.  They could not hold him below 385 yards.  I do see a Jesuit Squad here that can fly to the ball.  They will get their licks in and hold him down but the difference this year for teams is that Tyner is Healthy and 20 pounds bigger then last season.  He lowers that shoulder and runs people over.  His speed will neutralize a lot of the mass Jesuit has up front.  Then it will be up to Alfieri and Martinek and Werner and crew and man can these guys play.  So look for Tyner to have maybe his lowest production game of the year but not be stopped.  I see a 250 yard 3 TD night in store.  But what do I know.

    • Line VS Line–  ok now this is the battle of the night.  Jesuits front group on Offense has been much heralded.  Yet they have yet to turn in a knock out blow that they are capable of.  So look for Max Rich, Andrew Kirkland, Dominic Baldocci, Doug Brenner, Ryan Brown and the rest of this Crew to give Aloha fits on offense up front.  And pay special attention to the technician David Brugatto at the Center spot.  He is way undersized to handle a beast like Kluge or Calvin Liggins and with rain tonight that is a spot to watch.  David has been incredible so watch that interior battle.

    • The only thing wrong with the analysis above is that Michael Kluge, Brayden Kearsley (best linemen in the Region), Aj McCollum, and Liggins just to name a few are equally good.  These two lines balance each other out on both sides.  Look for a absolute battle.

    • X – Factor:  Bryson Sullivan returns for Aloha and will be utilized inside at guard I believe.  Look for him to blow some big holes and be a difference maker upfield and in the red zone for Aloha.  It is bad enough having Tyner coming at you but having Kearsley, Kluge and company and then this speedy beast running at your grill… well it is going to make a difference.

    • X-Factor: Maurice McSwain- Aloha JR WR/ATH:  So this is the guy who has shown he is one to be dealt with.  He catches anything he is thrown and on special teams he is turning into a human highlight.  The Ying to Tyner's Yang.  Can he be stopped?

    • X-Factor:  Trent Werner for Jesuit.  The kid was in on every single play in the Holy War but was sidelined with a concussion.  I am hearing he is back.  If he is watch for him to make the night a lot tougher on McSwain of Aloha in the passing lanes.  He is a solid answer to that problem.

    • X-Factor:  Henry Mondeaux- Jesuit TE:  This guy has good speed and tremendous balance and hands.  If he is used like he was late in the Holy War this game could turn to the Crusaders.  Ken Potter loves a bug Tight End and this guy is a Man Child.  Watch for the play action from the Crusaders and see if Henry can get into the action in space where he is hard to bring down.

    • X-Factor:  Joey Alfieri- Jesuit: RB/ATH:   Joey is capable of a 150 yard rushing night and dominating on defense.  He will be the guy meeting Tyner at the line every time he breaks through he front group and will be a worth opponent.  Much like Nathan Halverson of Grant in terms of his explosion and speed and man his hips pop and he can lay the wood.

    • X-Factor Aloha- Dominic Johnson- 6'2"-240 LB:  The Grant Transfer looked great against his old team last week.  This is the biggest game of his life and for a kid on the verge of offers like him that means time to show up!  And I predict he will and will make a big play or two.

    • X Factor- Richard Belog.  Watch and learn.  Kid can play!

I will say this game is a 7 point spread and won't pick a winner publicly. I am opposed it as anyone with inside or personal knowledge in the Prep Ranks should be.  And any game that close would be merely a guess anyway.

I do believe that the spirit and energy, call it the life force, that is Brayden Kearsley has spread to the Warrior Team.  Kluge has it too.  If you want to beat them you better bring every single weapon you have leave it all out there.

And right now I already know the Crusaders are poised to do just that.
