NW STARS CAMP SESSION 1 – Seniors Rise Up

What a day it was this past Sunday up at Interlake High School in Washington as the NW Stars Camp made a statement for a second year in a row.  Last season the camp was held in Hillsboro, Oregon and featured Seniors look for a post signing-day chance to find a home for college with almost 100 hopefuls attending to get one last shot.

Session 1 of the NW Stars Football Camp featured almost 80 NW Senior skill position players looking for a shot yo perform one last time.

Session 1 of the NW Stars Football Camp featured almost 80 NW Senior skill position players looking for a shot yo perform one last time.

This year the NW Stars Camp was promoted by the Northwest Prep Report and Northwest Elite Index and with over 20 colleges in attendance the camp was a big success.  The warms ups, agility drills, group skill drills, and individual drills were all followed by a 30 minute meet and greet the coaches session which was really a great part of the event for all the boys and coaches in attendance.

With 3 sessions the camp format allowed our best NW Seniors still looking for a home to take center stage in Session 1 and Session 2. The young guns were invited to close the camp out in Session 3.  We will be covering the camp throughout the next few days but wanted to get right to work and cover the Seniors featured in Session 1; the skill (Non-Linemen) group.

This editor has been writing a long time about NW recruits and I must say that everyone that came showed they could compete; most of them can make the argument that they can move on and play up.  I hope they do.  For me they were all deserving kids and all of them had their information and photos documented and it is now in the hands of the colleges who came from all over to attend this unique event.  Some have already received offers from their showing.

In Session 1 a few athletes stood out more then the rest for me but all were solid Seniors!

The Break Down- Session 1

18-IMG_0106

Clark Hazlett – Lynden – QB

Clearly Clark suffered not playing his Senior year.  He is collegiate talent and shined!

1-IMG_0263

Seth Hyatt- Timberline Tight End- 6’5″- 240 lbs

Seth is big and agile and was cornered by several coaches at the end of Camp!

19-IMG_0110

Robert Richardson – Bellarmine Prep QB- 6’5″ – Rocket Arm

Robert had all of us in awe; the young man missed his Junior Year and played sparsely last season for the Lions.  Not to worry.  This Camp changed his life as he stole the show as the best QB in many ways we saw all day!  Can he land an offer with little to no experience?  Yes!

04-IMG_0022

Scott Miller – Bellevue Christian – 2013 6’5″- 225 lbs

Scott has been sort of feeling his way around since graduating.  The nifty TE wowed the Coaches and he is very likely back in the game after being allowed a chance to compete by the camp management; he is one of our own and he made it worth his while!

21-IMG_0117

Adam Mydland – Nooksack Vallye- 6’2″- 225 lbs – linebacker

Mydland showed up with a bad back but played through the pain and really looked good. He was busy after camp too.

23-IMG_0127

Andre Johnson – Parkrose HS – DB /WR

So smooth, so quick, and he just keeps getting better every time we see him.

24-IMG_0129

Marshawn Edwards – Parkrose HS – WR/DB

Sam as Johnson above.  Edwards was strong in defense and is a ball hawk.  He had a terrific day!

05-IMG_0026

Michael Green – Granite Falls – DB / WR

Could be the this was the fastest athlete in Camp.  Fluid, quick, great quick twitch.  Top 5 at camp.

06-IMG_0028

Matthew Hamilton – Granite Falls – RB/DB

Like his team mate Matthew showcased speed and agility all over the field and looked great in drills.

12-IMG_0072

 Denzel Jones – Franklin Pierce – RB/DB

Great ball awareness and an athlete that brought the total package to camp.

22-IMG_0125

Dennis Moton – Arch Bishop Murphy – WR/DB

A big physical kid with great length Dennis made some big plays throughout the day and stood out in front of the coaches on several occasions.

17-IMG_0101

Jacob Bystry – Columbia River HS – WR

Jacob seemed to catch every ball sent his way and showcased great body control and sticky hands.  The young man has heart and drive to succeed and it showed.

16-IMG_0097

Nick Janakes – North Medford – RB/LB

All League and so gifted as an athlete.  He has some collegiate options and was looking for more Sunday!

15-IMG_0089

Jerome Woods III – Tahoma High School – RB/LB

Jerome has quick feet and made some big plays.  He has a nice frame and competes well.  Stood out Sunday!

13-IMG_0077

Jackson Davis – Wilson (PORT) HS-  FB-LB

A hybrid athlete who appeals on offense and defense and should be moving on to college football!

11-IMG_0070

Andrew Monlux – Kingston- OLB

Andrew has been on the radar for a while.  It was good for him to get out and show his mobility and size Sunday!

10-IMG_0056

Jo Jo Binda Jr- Kamiak – RB

Jo Jo was one of the best Backs we saw all day. He is a thick kid with good feet and agility to boot!

09-IMG_0052

Casey Brink – Bainbridge – QB

Good arm-  M0bile kid – hit targets all day to boot.  Nice dual threat QB.

08-IMG_0050

Jake Murphy – Kelso High SchoolBreak Out Player Of the Session – LB

Jake is 6’4″ and 205 lbs and fast.  In his lean muscular and angular frame he did a lot of good things and had eyes on him all through session 1 and 2.  He was a unknown, like many of these kids, but by the end of Session 1 it seemed his collegiate options were very open.  A smart hard working kid and a pleasure to meet!

07-IMG_0033

Paker Trewet – Hazen High School – Linebacker

Parker was one of the bigger athletes in the Linebacker category and one of the faster.  A great combination truly!

03-IMG_0015

Calvin Cardwell- Bremerton – RB

In drills he was hard to beat and had some great quickness.  How this young man was overlooked for college is unclear.  He may find a JC route through Coach Charlie Roache of powerhouse Siskyou’s JC that was in attendance!  Great camp for him.

02-IMG_0011

Corey Henderson – Mountain View HS (Vancouver) – RB/Ath

Corey was the kid that the coaches kept saying “Who is that guy?” which is a good thing.  My goodness the way this kid effortlessly moves through space to the right place on the field with easy was impressive.  A tough kid who showed great ability.

01-IMG_0009

Eli Clayton – Renton HS – RB

A full qualifier with a fast burst and power too.  Renton may not be a football powerhouse but they were darn lucky to have a guy of this caliber on the field.

Below you will find photos from NWPR on all the athletes that took part in Session 1 at the NW Stars Camp.  Coaches we have full spread sheets on all of these athletes so please email us at dirkknudsen@gmail.com and we will provide you with all of their information.
