Mt Si QB First Off The Board With OSU Pledge

There is an old saying that “when you know you know” but it is not dusted off that much anymore. Especially when your a Junior in High School and considered the Top Prospect in the Region. That is exactly who Nick Mitchell and what he did today.

There is an old saying that “when you know you know” but it is not dusted off that much anymore.  Especially when your a Junior in High School and considered the Top Prospect in the Region.  That is exactly who Nick Mitchell is and what he did today.

He took the old adage to heart and locked in on his collegiate choice taking the first offer that he received.  Oregon State offered him a couple of weeks back and today he reciprocated the love by pledging to Beaver Nation as a QB of the future.

Nick M itchell commits today to the OSU Beavers as a QB prospect from the 2014 Class. He is seen here with his Dad and Head OSU Coach Mike Riley!

“This was my dream school from the beginning and it is a great fit. I’ve been discussing this with my family for a long time and I wanted to commit early so I could focus on the season ahead,” said Nick tonight as he reached us just after the decision.

To know what you want, get the opportunity to have it, and then close the deal.  A really great thing to see happen for everyone.  Not what always happens.   Kids many times wait and see who else offers.  Not Nick.  This was the one.

His brother Josh being on the team helps and the fact he has spent so much time there the past few years helps too.  So we wondered.  Would he have made the same decision if his brother was not a Beaver?

“Yes.  It’s a pro style offense,  close to home, in the PAC 12, and I love the coaches!”

OSU has so much going for it.  And no one can compare to the staff.   Head Coach Mike Riley and the whole crew prove that every year by outperforming the expectations some experts have for the team.

We asked Nick if he could identify one thing he liked best about OSU that was NOT all football related.

“They care about their players and it is such a family atmosphere.  All those things together make it a great fit,” he finished.

Those themes we have heard over and over again in the past decades.  OSU is a place kids and families thrive.  And you can not say that about very many schools anymore.

Congrats to Nick Mitchell, Mt Si High School, The Mitchell Family, and the OSU Beavers on a great I-5 Recruiting story.  Mitchell cements himself into one of the top QB positions in the West for certain as a result of this decision; which came from his years of hard work.
