National Letter of Intent Day Is Coming

Our coverage of National Letter of Intent Day and the signing period for football continues this AM.  We had a busy day yesterday with the phones ringing and reports coming in from all over as a few recruits made one last official visit before Quiet period began.

The success and fortunes generated by the Billions of dollars available to NCAA Member schools can be decided by who lands the Nations best recruits.  So this day is the biggest day in the entire recruiting process.

To make sure your all on the same page with us here is how the rules work right now under NCAA guidelines.  This from our friend Steve Sanner at BeaverBlitz.com; the OSU Rivals Affiliate.

Saturday, February 2, 2013 Contact Period (final visits and lots of phone calls)
Sunday, February 3, 2013:  Quiet Period (lots of phone calls and last day to host recruits)

Monday, February 4, 2013: Dead Period (athlete can contact coach)
Tuesday, February 5, 2013: Dead Period (athlete can contact coach)

Wednesday, February 6, 2013: Dead Period (Letter of Intent Day – Unlimited Calls)
Thursday, February 6, 2013: Dead Period (Oregon State Recruiting Dinner – Coaches tell all…)
Friday, February 8 through April 14, 2013:  Quiet Period

Explanations of Periods from BeaverBlitz.com Recruiting Dictionary

quiet?period n : recruiting
phase where it’s permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only
on the member institution’s campus.

contact?period : recruiting
phase where it’s permissible for authorized athletic department staff members
to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

dead?period : recruiting phase where it’s
not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on-
or off-campus or permit official or unofficial visits.

Now having dispensed with all of that we will bring you the news on recruits as it comes in.  Should be a great week and on Signing Day we will have all the commits as they go up on the big Board in the War room and make some special stops along the way.
