McGary Lands Mighty Ducks = What’s Next?

More breaking news.  On the way up to the Tacoma Dome this afternoon to catch the WIAA State Championships we grabbed a call from one of our young NW Stars…Mr. Kaleb McGary.  Now not to sound like a broken record but he has some more news.

Over at Fife High Today he had a Visitor.  None other then Oregon Ducks Offensive Line Coach (and Guru) Steve Greatwood.  He was doing some Due-Diligence and apparently liked what he found.

Because McGary sat with him and spoke for a bit and landed an offer from the Mighty Ducks.

"What happened is that Coach Greatwood came by to look at my transcripts and talk to the staff here.  Then he wanted some time to talk.  As we did he let me know that they are very very careful on doing a lot if investigation and due diligence on any player that they were going to offer and that they had been doing that on me," said McGary.

So what happened next?

"Coach was direct.  They finished all their investigations and want me to play for them.  So he offered me a full ride on the spot.  Pretty humbling really."

This is Major D1 Offer #6.  And the #4 rated Ducks do not make many offers to guys here in the NW.  Odds are we may see Greatwood and Sark and others out at the Tacoma Dome tonight looking at Budda Baker, Myles Jack and a host of studs.  Who knows.

But we do know that as we predicted over a year ago McGary is special.  We have stated that Kaleb is as good of a recruit we have seen since Austin Seferian-Jenkins or Colt Lyerla.  At 6'8"- 270 Pounds he is a beast.  And his skill set is special.

"We just won our first Basketball game Tuesday Night," said McGary.  "I think we might be pretty good this season."

No doubt they will because this guy gets his football skills in many ways from those hoops skills.  He is likely to be an offensive tackle of the Highest Caliber but his hands at TE are special and he qualifies as a potential new age super athlete.

What now?  I mean the Ducks are… well you know.

"No hurry.  I have to take my time and I am going to do all my due-diligence.  Right now I am going to talk with everyone and really take my time.  Oregon is obviously amazing.  But I only get one shot at this so I will take my time," he said stating he is hearing from more and more schools.

Notre Dame, LSU, Alabama, and other are starting to feel the vibe as well.  So we shall see.

"This is really amazing.  All I can say is I am blessed and so very thankful."

Kaleb is a full academic qualifier and one heck of a kid.  Great job big guy/

Stay tuned folks.
