McClean Takes On More For Skyhawks

Kevin McClean is a known talent in the Pacific Northwest as a Wide Receiver.  The lanky speedster has a lethal combination of size and skills and is one of the Top Prospects on OregonPreps.com Top Prospects Of 2013 list.

With the loss of Reza Aleaziz at the QB spot McClean is working with a new gunslinger in rising star AJ Woodin; a Junior.  And that is going well.

But McClean is also being called upon to move into the defensive secondary and is liking the expansion of his new role.  So we caught up to him and went over things in our 2 Minute Drill.

ON: How the Off Season Went?
I attended a few camps and clinics throughout the summer. I didn't visit any schools officially but did travel a lot this summer and got a feel of where I might want to go. Summer work outs were great. Our team got a lot better and a lot closer as a team. We built a brotherhood because we all worked extremely hard.
What Position(s) will you be playing this season?
I will play Free Safety, Wide Reciever, Punter and QB
ON: Are you happy with your progress?
I am very happy with my progress. Some of my strengths are my size and quickness. My understanding of the game. Keeping my composure in tough situations and also leading my team.
On: What is your favorite part of the Football season?
My favorite part of football season is that fact that everyone looks up to us and everyone wants to watch us play. Its a great feeling knowing that a whole community is supporting you and they want to see you succeed. I also enjoy becoming more than just a team, but more like a family.
In a year from now what do you want to look back on and remember about this season that is just ahead?
I want to look back and remember how much fun my senior season was and how hard we worked to finish as well as we can this season.
Name some guys who you have been impressed with on your team? Any surprises or young guys standing out?
I've been impressed with our entire line. We have a very young line but I have faith in them and I know they can get the job done. I also believe that Aj Woodin has done a good job of filling the QB position.
ON: Why should a college recruit you when there are so many kids out there? What sets you apart?
What sets me apart is that if I have a certain job to do or an assignment I will get it done to the best of my ability every time. I also have a way of helping my teammates be the best they can be in a way that is constructive. I like to lead by example. I'm also very versatile. With my height and size there isn't really any perimeter position that I cannot play. I pride myself in not being so focused on one facet of my game. Which is why I'm also a multi-sport athlete.  Lastly, I get good grades. I've never missed being on honor roll and I'm also apart of the National Honor Society.
