Kimane Domena Lands Colorado State Offer To Become Top 2015 Recruit

Roosevelt High School in Portland has seen their fair share of top recruits. The Rough Riders always seem to have some serious talent and your not going to get any argument from anyone in the know on that front. Roosevelt High School in Portland has seen their fair share of top recruits.  The Rough Riders always seem to have some serious talent and your not going to get any argument from anyone in the know on that front.  But there is a young man coming through who is a 2015 graduate who may redefine the way we think about kids from the school.

Kimane 405Kimane Domena is a Quarterback.  An athlete for sure.  But he is a Quarterback and his training is coming from Neil Lomax and a group of talented Coaches including Head man Christian Swain.  His skill set is substantial with a big frame (6’2″-190 lbs) a big arm (1700 yards passing- 21 TD’s in 2012) and he is fast and knows how to break things open (800 yards 16 TD’s).

His film from his 10th grade season is here. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/790249/highlights/35916380 .  Coaches who have taken the time to watch it since it was released are usually in a hurry to find his number because the film is that good.

“Wow.  That kid has a Cannon and can run,” said one former Pac 12 Coach we asked to review his film.

The response from all over has been about the same.  BYU offered him a a few months ago.  This last week Domena had things step up again.

“Colorado State called and let my Coach know that they have verbally offered me.  That was pretty great because with BYU that was big but then things got pretty quiet,” said Kimane.  “Now with this offer the interest is picking way up again. I am very lucky to be in the position I am in.”

He has not had the easiest life.  Like a lot of kids he has issues in his personal life.  But he knows his best chance to succeed in life is to work.

“He is an incredible talent on the field and a wonderful young man,” said Swain.  “Like a lot of kids it’s hard to see where that all can take him but overall he gets it and is working hard to make something of himself.”

Swain was invited to bring Domena and his two top Junior linemen, Semise Kofe and Sione Taumoenga, to the University of Washington Junior Day this past weekend.  It was by all accounts a great event and let’s just say a bridge was built between the North Portland High School and the UW this weekend.

“Overall we had a great experience at the UW,” said Domena who was looking at some camp invites that had come in.

Word is the UW staff loved what they saw and see his potential and are planning on aggressively pursuing him over the Summer after he attends camp and they see him throw.

Again guys and gals let’s review our mantra.  Get to Camp!  Get to Camp! Get to Camp!

You have to get to College camps even for a day so their coaches can see you, watch you, and get to know what your about.  You have to make it a priority to get to College Camps.  No combine is going to do that for you.

“Calls are coming in from all over.  The interest in Kimane is rising for sure,” said Swain.

He knows what is ahead for his young gunslinger and too he knows he has the job of helping him keep it all together.  Because with the offers and attention comes pressure and distraction.  Something this young guy does not need.  But rest assured he is in great hands and will have some wind under those substantial wings to fly provided by the handful of family and friends, and coaches he has come to trust.

Great developments for a great Oregon prospect for 2015 from the North Portland Neighborhood.
