For the next few weeks there are in home visits with some of the Regions best and then there are official visits. The two are a stark contrast but draw the picture of the pressure cooker some of the top athletes are in. It’s a stressful and exciting time for the kids and their families and the coaches and schools too. Something like getting ready for a wedding; as I remember it all this attention and pressure comes to a head and then ends in a flash. Signing day (National Letter of Intent Day) is when that Marriage wraps up for the top recruits as that Fax sends in their signed letter thereby binding them to the school they choose.

Kaleb McGary is a big time recruit. The Fife High monster has just under 20 major offers. Not to bad for a kid who really did little to be recruited other then keep his grades up, play very hard, and keep his 6’8.5″ 285 lb frame in top condition. Still the pressure has been fairly great at times. He reported the Oregon was putting the hard close on him a few weeks back so he informed them he was not interested. That left the UW right in the main part of the mix. Then Sark left and McGary had to reset. But he also has Wisconsin and Oregon State, both of whom he loves, on his final list.
Tonight by phone Kaleb has confirmed his official schedule and the fact that he is going to add Arizona State to the final group. So starting this Saturday he will take 3 finals visits, official visits paid for by the schools, and in doing so will look for a new home.
This Saturday he is heading to Wisconsin for a meet and greet and good old time with the Badgers. His time will include many activities and a full campus tour as well as a stop at legendary Camp Randall. Known for big time linemen and putting a ton of guys into the NFL this school could earn his pledge.
The following Saturday McGary stays home but heads to Montlake for a hometown good time. He loves the UW and was all set to play for them by many accounts. But the new staff has to let him know he is still the guy for them. Good for them he is a high character guy and was already thinking about going to Boise State. So Chris Peterson and his guys should do well with Kaleb. He is looking for the little things in that fit as he is close to home and already has very reason to stay.
The following Saturday just before the contact period ends and 2 or 3 days until the deadline for signing Kaleb will hit Tempe, Arizona. They have a top program on the rise, near perfect weather, an amazing campus experience, and now a 275 Million Dollar Stadium upgrade that may include air conditioning under each seat, the worlds largest jumbo-tron, and a water-slide where the player come in wet and cool from the locker room. All kidding aside that is a darn nice looking option for him.
“I will go ready to hear what they are all offering. And you can bet I am going to ask each group of Coaches the same set of questions. That will include some things outside of football. I am going to do my best to get at the best that each school has and I am excited,” said McGary who is well into basketball season now.

Oregon State will not get a visit. He has been there and done that and loves it. The kid who wants to be a Forest Ranger possibly knows that Corvallis may have the magic mixture of career, NFL caliber coaches known for putting guys into the league, and a terrific laid back NW Campus where a cowboy like him can fit right in.
‘This is coming to a head pretty soon. And all I can do is be excited and positive and ready to listen. I can not thank you guys enough for helping to tell my story and for these amazing options I am so honored to have,” said Kaleb. “Right now I don’t have any idea who it will be in the end.”
We are excited for this big man and want to thank him for the professional manner he has always carried himself. His lunch pail mentality is one we have really enjoyed!
