Vikings Land Two More Top Linemen Despite Off Season

Vikings Land Two More Top Linemen Despite Off Season

It was not the best season for Portland State.  And maybe too many people expected too much from the Vikings and Coach Nigel Burton in his 3rd year.  But they competed well in almost all of their games including last weeks 34-41 loss to #4 in the FCS Eastern Washington University.

Despite the 3-8 finish there were some highlights there.  The rise of true Freshmen QB Kieran McDonagh for one.  The kid was productive and was able to manage the sometimes complex Pistol Offense pretty darn well.

And it was guys like McDonagh from Vancouver, Washington's Skyview High School that made the 2012 Recruiting Class one of the best in the Nation.  The hope is that those guys along with recruits Burton and crew go in 2010 are going to begin to play a bigger role in the offense and the defense in 2013.

Tonight the Vikings got a boost for the next years Class by landing 2 more outstanding linemen from right here in the State of Oregon.  They are Salem Academies Justin Outslay and Mountain View HIgh School's Chad Bach; AKA Texas.

Now these two are going to join three others that we predict before it is all over will lead the Vikings deep into post season play.  Five significant linemen from Oregon are now planning to head to PSU on Scholarship and they could form the front group of the future because these guys are not just big but they are all that good.

 Justin Outslay- 6'5"- 285 Pounds

This 4.0 student is no slouch on the football field nor in the Classroom.  PSU offered him and little while back and he accepted tonight after looking at his other options.

"I wanted to play at the highest level for me and still have a solid academic option.  After reviewing the courses and offerings at PSU with my family we agreed that PSU was a good fit for me," said an always methodical Outslay.

His other options included a host of academic schools and a preferred Walk on sport at Oregon.  In the end he realized this was it for him.

"Coach Brad Davis wants me on the O-Line and I am really looking forward to the chance to learn from a guy like that.  I think we can be a really good group of linemen as we move through there at PSU.  So I am excited," he concluded.

He is a vicious blocker, has excellent feet and hands, and technically has a very high ceiling.

Congrats to he and the Vikings on another in State commit.

Chad "Texas" Bach – 6'5"-270 Pounds

The well coached Technician is this guy.  Physical, a finisher, and boy can he just flat out play!  The Mountain View stud just had his season end.

"It was tough loosing to Marist.  We just never really clicked on offense and could not stop the passing game they put on us.  I am over it now but I get to move on to play in College.  I just really wanted to win it for the other guys you know," said Chad who is a thoughtful kid from beautiful Bend, Oregon.

Chad in our view will be ready to play early.  That comes from his time under NFL Player Coaches at Mountain View and the way they taught him.  He will likely be a guard and would make one hell of a Center as he can snap, block, and work up field to get that second level block you want in a big time linemen.

"I am now committed to PSU.  I let Coach Davis know a little while back.  And with the playoffs and all of that I have been just keeping it low profile.  I am happy to have a place like PSU to play and look forward to the experience with these other top Oregon Linemen heading there next year," he concluded.

Chad is taken up wrestling to be the Heavy Weight for Mountain View and admits the workouts are tough and that he is going to rely on his football skills to get the job done.  A fast leaner it will no surprise us if this big guy does not compete with the best of them.  Good luck Chad!

Now joining Outslay and Bach will be three other top linemen who we have covered several times in the past.  They include:
