Well NWPR is coming up on a Second Anniversary in a few months and we just wrote Feature story # 700.  That brings  the total stories at our three sites (OregonPreps.com – WashingtonPreps.com -NorthwestPrepReport.com) to over 4,000 since we began.  Whew!!

So 701 at NWPR is going to a kid who is very much like every other kid we help this time of the year.  A "Best of the Rest" story.  These are the guys who will gain offers next.  The guys who have earned the right to a full college scholraship through sweat and blood and hard work in and out of the classroom.  The guys we think are up and next to gain offers.  See All These Stories In The Best Of The Rest Tab.

Tonight we check in with AP Honors Student Jonathan Kennion of Clackamas High School.  The 6'3"-255 Pound DE/Center/Guard just finished his HIgh School career and played every down of the year both ways.  He is a true Warriror and has the entire skill set to be a special athlete at the college level.

"Im pretty good at containing and assignment football as you see heavily in my Junior film but also good at holding ground and splitting the defense when going against a double team too," offered Kennion.

He racked up 12 Sacks, 30-40 Solo tackles, and scores of Pancake blocks.

The Cavaliers had a good season all and all with signs of a program on the rise again. They lost their Playoff Opener to Tualatin 32-20 and Kenion went down battling.

"Leadership is my best skill on and off the field; that and my Pass Rush which I pride myself on," he said.

School is someting he stresses and he hopes to move on to be an educator or to work in Sports Apparel. He may be an AD or a Coach in the future as well.

"I am taking classes such as AP Sciences, College Mathematics, Accelerated Englishes, College Sports Marketing 1&2 in school. Outside of school I am doing lots of lifting and running. Including a cardio lift in AM and Power lift in PM."

Now the big question.  Who is going to grab this guy and give him a home?  He is explosive, durable, has the size, and can play.  That and his terrific work in the Classroom and leadership in our view make him a stand out guy!

"As far as intrest goes, I get e-mails from OSU, Linfield, Willamette, Western, Oberlin College, Penn, Yale, Harvard, Pacific Lutheran and then of course, Portland State," added Kenion.

He is looking to get college paid for and to play. That is the same thing all these great kids on verge want. And to us he is among the top guys who not only deserves an option to move on but who is going to land one any day.
