Another young gun has landed his first offer.  Boy these 2016 kids are making some noise this last week as Eastside Catholic’s Harley Kirsch joins Jacob Eason of Lake Stevens as a Sophomore with an offer.  He is on the way to being something very special.

Kirsch, the 6’4″ 200 lb. gunslinger, has landed his first offer from a Division 1 school thanks to the Wyoming Cowboys.  A high compliment to such a young guy.  But when you look at his stats and his size you see the total package coming together.  Harley played a fair amount as a Freshmen as the Crusaders headed all the way to the final last season before falling to National power Bellevue.  That experience prepared him for this season.

“Last year the game was so fast and it was tough to make reads and decisions but I always did my best,” said Kirsch.  “This year I am feeling so comfortable and not hurried.  The game has slowed down and I feel in control more.  That lets me be more accurate and I have to thank my amazing Offensive Line for that.”

His accuracy is something to marvel at.  Harley has thrown for 2,100 yards and 24 TD’s.  His completion percentage is 73% and guess what folks… not one interception.  That is flat out amazing and getting it done.  And he has not really been able to light it up as much until just recently.

“I think is was against O’Dea that my coach finally decided to have me throw.  I put up 40 plus passes that game; prior to that I threw maybe 15 to 20 times a game.  I’d like to keep doing that,” he said with a smile.

Wyoming loves to throw the ball and this guys fits that bill.  For a school like WSU or Oregon this guy could be a natural fit and no doubt they are all watching.  Those numbers and his size do not lie.  And the big kid is a lefty which can be a real asset out on the grid iron!

He gave a shout out to Colin MacIlvennie (2014) for his leadership and hands and says he has been a big part of the teams success.  2015 stud receiver Devon Arbis-Jackson also got huge props as being a guy who “makes people miss” and is one heck of a receiver.  Kirsch talked a lot about the Senior leadership of guys like Drew Sprinngfield (6’4″ 290 lbs) who has overcome a severe knee injury and come back.  He showered praise on Moni Ioane (6’1″- 265 lbs SR & EWU Commit),  Elisha Pa’aga (5’10”-255 SR), and Deion Fetui (6’0″ 305 lb Junior) for also leading the defense and linemen.  Harley is also lucky to have Alex Neale (6’3″- 290 lbs. JR) as his center; a kid who is considered one of the very best Centers in the West for the 2015 Class.

“The Wyoming offer was great; that is a huge compliment and reward for all the hard work.  I have a lot going through my mind of course but that was neat to have happen as a Sophomore.  It makes me want to double up my hard work and really get even better.  Maybe I will have some more offers before I decide but it is awesome!”

This week the Crusaders take on the very talented Lincoln Abes who NFL great John Kitna has brought a long way the past two seasons.  They will be led by Jordan Kitna who is yet another 2016 QB gaining big time interest.  So this is a big game and a big week for Kirsch and the Crusaders as it is win or go home!

Congrats to the Eastside Catholic Crusaders and Harley Kirsch and we wish they and the Lincoln Abes a safe and fun week ahead!
