Crescent Valley Talent Court Hammond – 2 Minute Drill

Tonight we check in with a rising talent out of Crescent Valley  High School in Corvallis, Oregon.  Court Hammond came onto the scene last season as a lanky and fast 2 way threat.  The Raiders Tight End / Defensive End was busy all off season and is off to a good start this year.  We saw Court at a couple of showcase camps and he impressed the Coaches and our staff taking an All Camp Award at the Tight End spot at the Northwest Elite Football Camp.  He is seeing a lot of reps on defense where is 6’5″- frame and long arms are having am impact almost every down he takes.

Court Hammond was an all camp Tight End at the biggest camp of the year and we catch up with him tonight.

ON: How is the Season Going so far for you and the Team?
The season is going well, with a young offense we took some time to get used to everything but are starting to get into the groove of things. I have caught 4 passes in these first 3 games for close to 60 yards. Blocking is a key to our offense which I try to work on. The team has a lot of adversity with switching our formations each week to work against the opposing team.
What Position(s) are you playing this season?
Tight End
ON: Are you happy with your progress?
From last years season it is night and day of how I have improved. Both catching and blocking have been greatly worked on throughout the off season. The camps I attended helped teach me new ways to work to the ball, my hands, and blocking in the open field, as well as getting off the ball with releases. My speed has picked up on the routes and I have loosened my hips to sink faster on a route. My team can tell of all my improvements in catching and blocking.
On: What is your favorite part of the Football season?
Friday Nights Under the Lights, the time on the field with my teams making big plays gives no better feeling than anything I have ever experienced
In a year from now what do you want to look back on and remember about this season that is just ahead?
I want to remember the memories that I have shared with my teammates and coaches. Look back on how I have grown as a man, and all the hard work I put in to get to where I am.
Name some guys who you have been impressed with on your team? Any surprises or young guys standing out?
Allan Huang, Henry Reisenberg, Hunter Hurley, Luke Reynolds. Some guys that have been standing out and have been under the radar are Henry Reisenberg, our junior reciever who can big make big plays when needed, and our freshman QB Talonoa Hufanga made big plays against rivalry game Corvallis High and will be a kid to watch for sure, he has speed and talent.
ON: Why should a college recruit you when there are so many kids out there? What sets you apart?
What sets me apart from other kids is not only my size but work ethic. I stand tall at 6’5 230 for a big guy and I am still growing leaving room to fill out in muscle and size. Colleges have looked at me for tight end and left tackle, due to my speed, wide shoulders, and 6’11 arm reach. I work hard in the off season and always find something that needs to be improved on, you can always get better. I also carry a 3.5 gpa
Offers of Visitations:
I plan on attending an Eastern Washington game in the near future, besides that I am not sure what other schools I will visit.
