Connor Humphreys To Play In US Army All American Game

A NW Prep Football prospect in the 2014 class our of Oregon continues to make waves this off season.  The goal driven Defensive Linemen from Central Catholic, Connor Humphreys, realized the second of his 4 big goals today when he received a packet from the US Army All American Selection committee.

Connor Humphreys picked up some valuable lessons from the NFL Veteran staff at Trench Camp last season where he was an MVP.

Being nominated to play in the game is a huge honor.  Being selected to play is even tougher to achieve  .  But it has been a goal of his all along; one he had focused on by putting himself in the biggest camp environments possible to prove he was among the best of the best.

So today as he was delivered the invite he took pause to think about it all.  And he realized his hard work is visually paying off in a way he only dreamed about in the past few years.  The 6’5″- 268 lb hard charging linemen touched base with us and had a few thoughts.

“It’s unbelievable.  I am so honored to receive that award,” said Humphreys still in awe of the fact he will be on of only 45 US High School players to represent the West in the Nation’s premier game next January!

His first Goal was to be recruited to a big time D-1 program and to get his schooling paid for.  With almost the entire Pac 12 on him now including USC and UCLA and schools like Wisconsin and Vanderbilt coming in from back East his options in that category are pushing a dozen schools.  So Goal #1 was mowed down so to speak.

Goal #2 as we stated above was to be an US Army All American.  His goal includes  having his Army Game jersey hung in the weight room next to those of Myles Wade (Texas Tech/PSU/Seattle Seahawks),  Brennan Scarlett (Cal), and Alex Balducci’s (Oregon).  Add in Kevin Frahm (OSU) who played in the Offense-Defense All American Bowl and you have a hall of legends that is pretty amazing; all coming in the last 7 or 8 years.  Goal #2 is now a done deal.

But Humphrey’s is never done as for him it is the work reaching these goals that he enjoys.  So we had to know what was next?  Was there another goal on his radar?

“Next goal is to find the right school to attend,” said Connor.

That could take a while as he has a lot of great choices and clearly more are coming in.  There is no school too big at this point and clearly schools like Alabama and Notre Dame are making contact too.  As he demonstrated at the Rivals Performance Camp series he is among the best of the best and was the MVP at the California Camp.  So that goal is a work in progress and is more about him finding the time to look his top choices over then anything.

Now for goal #4.  A State Championship?

“Yes! Goal #4 is to get the team ready for winning a State Championship,” he closed with.  And then he was off.

You see on top of all this the All American is working about 15-20 minutes a week to cover expenses he has and help his family.  No matter if it is work, school, football, or knocking down goals this guy is driving a Panzer Tank and it appears nothing is about to stand in his way!

Another great Oregon High School Prospect is making it out to the biggest levels of College football and the US Army All American Game will be a nice way to finish up his High School experience.  Great job and congrats to Central Catholic’s Connor Humphreys!
