Chase Cole One Of Many Trying To Fight Back To The Top

It takes years of work to become the best and to be good enough to start on a big time High School Varsity football program.  Maybe to outsiders or the casual observer that fact may be lost but those 11 players on offense and 11 on defense that get to start for their teams know.  This took thousands of hours to achieve and nothing ever came easy.  Reaping the rewards of that work come sin the form of a handful of games and a few quarters of play and then before most of them even realize it the last whistle will blow and the lights will go out forever on Friday Night.

Imagine what it would feel like if all of that ended and it all happened suddenly and you were not ready.  Every season we get to tell the story of kids all over the Pacific Northwest.  And sadly every year we hear the tales first hand of blown knees and concussions and broken legs and arms and worse.  And when we hear one of the boys has fallen we breathe deep and pray for the best outcome.  Some make it back within a few games, some within a few months and some never come back.  No matter when it happens it is never good.  And we always follow up and see how the recovery works out.

One kid we are thinking of tonight is Chase Cole of Central Catholic.  The 5’7″ – 165 lb power house with glue for hands started the CC 2012 season off with a defensive touchdown over Skyview in the Opener and then went down with a knee injury ending his Junior year.    Surgery followed and so did rehab. Hours and hours of rehab.  And all that time working to get back he was focused like a laser beam on getting back to where he was and resetting the clock.

By mid Spring he was back at about 80% and by the time the Nike Camp came in June he felt he was 110%.  We helped him get into the Camp and he shined posting great efforts and making some beautiful catches.

Now 7 games in and a perfect 7-0 the nifty Wide Receiver and slot is putting up some nice numbers and an integral part of the Rams passing onslaught that has helped get them to a perfect mark.  The kid is one of many guys on the team that is getting it done.   He has 2 TD’s and some good yards.  Not eye popping numbers but meaningful ones.  We wanted to give a little love in the press for the kid who went down, got back up, overcame a potential career ending injury, and is back.  Back in every-way a kid can come back.

“Keep and eye on Chase Cole Dirk,” said Coach Steve Pyne as we spoke at the start of this year.

You were right Coach!  Special kid and special story.  One of many in the Rams so far special season!  We expect Chase Cole to be a driving force for these Rams all the way deep into the playoffs.  Good luck young man.  Coaches this is another very recruit-able athlete right here!
