Chad Bach’s Hard Work Pays Off

“I attended the North West Elite Football Camp last weekend as well as the NFTC. It was a great weekend and led to some big things for me,” said Chad Bach of Mountain View High School in Bend, Oregon.

At the Northwest Elite Camp he took rep after rep taking on all comers in front of the 17 College programs who were in attendance. And he was beautiful to watch as his technique was flawless. Something you just do not see in High School kids.

Chad Bach’s Hard Work Pays Off

Making it as a linemen is hard work.  In the crowded class of 2013 it is becoming increasingly hard to stand out.  There is so much size and so much power in the Pacific Northwest this year that one marvels at these incredible big kids.

Getting an offer is getting tougher and tougher.   One of the top linemen has good enough size and power to move on.  But his technique is unrivaled and have earned him his first offer.

"I attended the North West Elite Football Camp last weekend as well as the NFTC.  It was a great weekend and led to some big things for me," said Chad Bach of Mountain View High School in Bend, Oregon.

At the Northwest Elite Camp he took rep after rep taking on all comers in front of the 17 College programs who were in attendance.  And he was beautiful to watch as his technique was flawless.  Something you just do not see in High School kids.

"Chad was terrific at our camp," said NW Elite Director and Owner Cole Morgan.  "He came and performed very well.  The Coaches were clearly impressed and kids like him are the reason we have the camp."

Bach at 6'4" and 260 pounds is big and powerful.  But watching his feet move and his overall ability to defend the pass rush is an instant hit.  He is so well coached and gave all credit to his High School Coaches.

"I am taught by some amazing Coaches at Mountain View," he said.  "Moving to Bend from Texas was a blessing as it turned out."

Chad's Father brought the family to the Central Oregon oasis in pursuit of his passion to help homeless kids.  Something he knows a lot about.

"My Dad Tim grew up  somewhat homeless in Detroit.  He has an amazing life and his passion is to help kids like himelf," said Bach.  "I appreciate and respect him so much.  He works for  Icon City  here in Bend and I have had a chance to help as well.  It is something that has been a great source of pride for all of us."

Chad went on to talk about his Dad making it out of a tough life with the help of a couple of key mentors but having to miss sports for the most part skipping two grades on his way to Wayne State.  Tim would go on to become a Musician and a Youth Pasture as he pursued his dreams of giving back to the kids.

"Dad is the reason I push myself to succeed.   I played Baseball and Hockey and was in Track for quite a few years.  But I chose Football as my sport.  Dad pushed me to become the best at my choice and that is my goal."

Back on the Camp circuit and with an O-Line MVP in hand from the NW Elite Event Chad hit the NIke NFTC Camp where he also shined proving again against the best Defensive linemen in the Region that he was the guy to beat.

"Overall the NW Elite Camp was the best for me as the talent there I had to compete against was amazing.  I got so many reps and so much opportunity to shine it was really great.  I felt I did well at Nike NFTC but was frustrated that it was hard to get reps," he said.

Back home on Monday he reaped the rewards.  The phone began to ring and he had one call that made him especially happy.

"Portland State called and said that they had seen enough of me at the NW Elite Camp to be able to offer me a scholarship.  That was really big," he added.

The Vikings Coach Brad Davis loved Bach all along but felt his film was lacking a bit.  Seeing him live at Camp was enough to convince him not to wait.  Chad says he is excited to get a Campus tour and see the Football facilities the Vikings have.

Overall he is happy but feels his true talents are still not obvious.

"My film is ok but it has 2 plays from every game and so you have to watch the whole thing to see the really best stuff.  We have some plays where I pull and move up field and in many cases I am chasing down the corner and blocking him out of bounds.  How many linemen can do that?  I know I am not maybe the biggest linemen but that is changing.  I am adding good weight and should be playing at 265 this season; 40 pounds heavier then last year.  So I feel I can compete with the best and that my size will come the right way."

Chad wants to stay in Oregon and play football if at all possible.  The Ducks like him but were honest that he is down the board a way and that they want more film.  The Beaver's are starting to peak their interest now and he is feeling a good vibe from them.  Other schools like Boise State and WSU are showing some real interest to.

Would he go anywhere else?

"Texas is my dream school and the team I grew up rooting for.  Texas Tech and TCU have a special place in my heart.  And I am getting some real interest from Central Michigan now.  The seem to be close to offering and that is where I am heading next for camp," he stated. "I have family there so playing for them would be great too."

One thing puzzled us as we completed a great interview with this 3.51 student.

Where is that Texas accent?

"I mask it.  It just seemed better not to come to Oregon and be all "Texas" and stuff.  But I have that still.  In fact I have about 15 really great accents down.  Next time we meet I will show them off for you,"  he said smiling.

Awesome kid.  Awesome story!  Congrats to Chad "Texas" Bach and the PSU Vikings for their attempts to keep him in State and the Green and Black.
