Tonight we add another amazing NW athlete to our growing list of Pacific Northwest Football players we are tracking for 2015 and beyond. Sam McPherson is going to be an absolute force for Bothell again this year and boy the Blue Train is looking to make a serious run for that State Title in the Fall. The 5’11” – 190 plus pound speed merchant has uncanny skills on both sides of the ball and was named All State last season as a result. We caught him in the opener against Coeur d’Alene and boy what a treat that was. You had to be there to see it as the Cougars came from behind to win against a loaded Viking squad that went on to win the Idaho big school crown for 2013.
McPherson had game after game where he posted huge numbers and that led to this result:
Rushing- 159 rushes for 1317 yards (8.3 per carry and 109.8 per game)
22 rushing TD’s and 2 receiving TD’s
All Purpose- 2,370 yards (197.5 per game)
29 Total Touchdowns
Kick Return- 632 yards 5 TD’s (39.5 per return)
Defense- 7 interceptions
Sam is already on the verge of Baseball season and is able to play at a collegiate level on the diamond. But that grid iron is what he is born to do. So where will this kid be spending his Senior year when he is playing for the team?
“Mostly in the backfield on offense but it’s looking like I’ll be in the slot a little too,” Sam told us. “On defense the Safety position is where I will be for sure.”
And those kick returns are a thing of beauty as well. He knows Coach Tom Bainter will want him back there and he would not want it any other way. As Far as colleges go he is getting some love but expects things to heat up as Summer comes and he makes some visits.
“I will be hitting the Nike NFTC Camp probably, the Mercer Island Camp and he SPARQ Combine among others.”
CHECK OUT Sam McPherson’s Premier Prospect Profile here on NWPR-
Right now he has Harvard, Princeton, Arizona State, Cal-Berkeley, Colorado, BYU, Cornell, Idaho, Montana, and UC Davis on him for recruiting. He holds an awesome 3.9 GPA and that will no doubt carry him a long way in this process.
Getting his figured out is something he wants to do because he knows he has not tested since 9th grade. We are confident that number is in the 4.5 to 4.6 range.
Congrats to Sam McPherson for being a Top Prospect for 2015 and for doing so well in the Classroom too! We look forward to bringing you more stories on this exception recruit in the next few months!
