Austin Joyner Lands OSU After Big Camp

Austin Joyner, a running back from Marysville-Pilchuck in Washington, has 4 offers now and the OSU Beavers are the latest to make their move.

Austin Joyner Lands OSU After Big Camp

This guy came into the Northwest Elite Football Camp (GESSER CAMP) as a hot recruit for the Class of 2015.  When he walked off the field he was even hotter.  Because during the 3 hours he was at camp he rotated to 3 seperate fields and drilled for 22 different Collegiate programs.  He showcased his speed, his balance and leaping ability, and his ability to catch and run with the football.

As expected the Top Running Back in the NW for the Class of 2015 walked out of Camp with an MVP Medal and added to his growing legacy.  Among the onlookers was the cadre of top Pac 12 Coaches who had come in search of talent.

Every year at the Camp there are offers made and this is a direct result of the fact that many of these Coaches are getting to see the kids they have only heard about up until that point.  After all as good and objective as sites like ours can be it can never replace seeing the real thing.

For Joyner he hit pay dirt with the OSU Beavers.

"The OSU staff made contact last weekend after camp and arranged for us to visit Monday," said Joyner.  "So we went and had a great visit and even though it was a quick one it was great because Coach Riley offered me."

Were the Beavers in contact a lot up until that point?

"Some but not that much.  I think they saw me at the Camp and liked that and from there decided to offer."

Was he offered as a Defensive Back or Running Back?

Joyner replied, " They were clear.  Running Back all the way which is great for me."

Austin has the speed and the skills to be a Running Back in the Pac 12.  Something that the UW, WSU, and PSU have all established with previous offers to him.  So the OSU offer adds to his options and with two years to go he is tracking to be a Blue Chip prospect out of the Evergreen State.

While he liked the campus atmosphere and the look of Corvallis he is not in a hurry and has no time table for his recruitment.  Something he and his Dad, who is doing a great job of advising him on, are taking all in stride.  Do not expect to see this humble kid showcasing at many more camps.  This weekend was his big camp stop and the rest of his Summer will be all about getting ready for Fall with his team.

"I will have a 10 day break to rest with some friends in Eastern Washington and then it is all football again.  But my recruitment is going to take its course when the time comes.  Right now I am wide open, I have NO favorites, and will be looking at every option."

Every Pac 12 school is recruiting him.  So are schools like Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and others.  The list is long and the letters are stacking up in boxes.  He will not be found holding up a Freeway Sign soliciting offers anytime soon.

Austin Joyner shined at the NWEFC last Friday and he and the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks should be a top contender in 2013.  Look for more on Austin as the season comes along.
