Century High School Big Man Alex Sirois worked out the terms of a scholarship tonight to Portland State University and  has committed to become a Viking next Fall.

This is something the 6'5"- 300 pound Senior has hoped for after receiving an offer from North Dakota this Summer.

"This is my school of choice.  Being a Viking has so many positives for me and my family.  I could not have asked for anything more," said Alex tonight by phone.

What are those positives?

"Well #1 is the location.  I am only going to be a 30 minute drive from home.  And you never know when I might need to pop back home and grab a snack or have the laundry done (smiles and jokes Mom has told him "maybe").  Then of course they get to see us play half of my games and do not have to try and come to Montana or North Dakota.  Then there is the degree program I am going to go after in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.  PSU has that program down," said Sirois.  "Lastly the sense of family seems to be there and to learn the offensive line form a guy like Coach Brad Davis is going to be just amazing.  He is one of the best technicians there is."

So many positives there in the Park Blocks for Alex at PSU.

The Vikings are saying O-Line but are not saying which spot yet and he is fine with any of them.  They liked his agility and athleticism for such a big guy and feel that with some technical changes he can be very good based upon what he heard from the Staff.

So is he all set?

"Yes.  I am 100% committed to the Vikings now," said a very upbeat Century Jaguar.  "My Dad is really excited because he was not wanting to go out to North Dakota and is a Vikings Fan anyway.  And my Mom is of course feeling great about this."

This week they challenge the hot Southridge Skyhawks.  Alex feels the Team is ready and says he can not wait for game time.  He and his Jaguars will sure have their work cut out for them.

The Vikings have already landed Austin Powell and Bryon Bodon at the linemen slots.  They are both All State Caliber linemen from Crescent Valley High School.

The Viks have also offered Chad Bach of Mountain View and Justin Outslay of Salem Academy.  These two are both huge and powerful kids too.  If the Vikings get all of these guys they won't need linemen for a few years!

Best wishes to Alex Sirois and the Jaguars and to the Vikings and all these great Oregon Prep Athletes!
