About Dirk Knudsen
Who is this guy anyway?
It is a fair question. Well like many ex-athletes Dirk is afflicted with an addiction to sports and has found his way over the years to the writing and analysis side of the bench suits him just fine. Raising three boys and coaching multiple sports for over 25 years in Washington County, Oregon gave him a great back drop for being the guy he is today.
He is currently the editor of OregonPreps.com and WashingtonPreps.com for the #1 Prep Reporting networks in the country; The Rivals.com Network owned by Yahoo sports. He is one of only two guys who publish and edit more then one site! And to think this is his part time job.
Those websites generate 500,000 viewers a month who come to read about Pacific Northwest Athlete.
Dirk has dedicated himself to writing the story of the Northwest Prep Kids to the National Audience that is Rivals.com. In the 6 years he has been doing this he has written over 3,000 stories and has no intention of stopping.
Dirk is a dedicated father of three, focused on giving back to the community, and driven to help
Recruiting is up between 200% & 300% in the Region the past few years and Dirk has been a great influence on that.
“I don’t know how he does it but he has been a huge influence over this process and he has been a great influence keeping his eye on the kids more as an advocate then as an analyst. No One has put in the time he has the way he has done it. Truly a talented and passionate guy.”
He is also the creator of K2 Sports; LLC which has developed a network for athletes to add their profiles to a National and growing data base. That is at PrepProfiles.com and is FREE or $20 total and is only designed to help the athletes. K2 also operates this website; although as a non-profit!
Dirk also has been a camp Director for Brian Derby Football Camps of Hawaii Fame running the US Camps for Coach Derby. Other past events Dirk has worked are with SPARQ, Velocity Sports, 5 Star Performance Camps, and Nike Football on a number of Camps and Clinics.
On the community service side Dirk is the founder of BrainChampions.org which was founded in 2009. This group is on a mission to save youth athletics from being “No More” as a result of Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury. This is a true passion and over 15 families of injured and deceased athletes have joined with Dirk and his family (who have suffered concussions damages) to lobby, educate, and raise funds for ImPACT Testing, Coaches and player education, and to change laws.

Dirk’s Mission is clear. Advocate for the kids, schools, and coaches. Tell their stories to Colleges and Schools all over America who read his articles. And his Mission is to do that in a way that keeps “Street Agents”, PAID Recruiters, and $$$ Services out of the equation.
“This is about the kids and their efforts. They do not need to have these people influencing their chances and the process. What they need is to keep their grades up, to work hard at their training and development as an athlete, and to work with their parents, Coaches, and athletic school staff to get their information together. That and film and some basic tools can get them where they need to go. No amount of money or influence can do that,” said Knudsen.

Dirk is a graduate of Hillsboro High School and played ball for the legendary Barry Adams. He went on to attend Portland State as a National Merit Scholar and Graduated Cum Laude. He is the the son of long time PIL Football Coach and Collegiate Small College All American Jack Knudsen.
